Proposed Applicant Definition Finally
Published top ^
The multi-agency government task force set up to clarify the definition
of an applicant released a proposal in the March 4, 2004 Federal
Register. This release is a proposed definition that will be open
for public comment until May 3, 2004. The proposed definition only
applies to Internet and related technologies and claims not to change
previous guidance or regulations. We will be submitting comments
on the proposed definition and welcome input from clients and associates.
The task force's guidance includes the following definition:
In
order for an individual to be an applicant in the context of the
Internet and related electronic data processing technologies, the
following must have occurred:
(1)
The employer has acted to fill a particular position;
(2) The individual has followed the employer's standard
procedures for submitting applications; and
(3) The individual has indicated an interest in the
particular position.
The
complete proposal can be found in the Federal Register at http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/14mar20010800/
